History Of Establishment Of Normal School,Nagaon

Normal School, Nagaonwas established in 1953, At the very beginning, the head of the institution was called the Superintendent. The teachers of M.E. and M.V schools were given Normal Training. It was 3 (three) years course. Practical works were given importance. For all round development different social and cultural activities were performed by the trainees. Priority was given to ‘ Practice-Teaching’ to make them efficient teachers. The it was one year training course. The Normal School, Nagaon give opportunity to all the lower and upper Assam trainees to take their necessary course in due time.

Role and Function

Ideally, Normal Schools performs many important functions in modern educational society. These included education (Scholastic and co-scholastic), socialization, social integration , social placement and social and cultural innovation.

The purpose of Normal Schools is to establish teaching standards or norms.

Teacher training programme/course/diploma is introduced among elementary level teachers (both in-service & pre-service).

Observation, Supervision and monitoring in schools by the faculties in frequent manner, Co-relation with social groups, Action Research among teachers/parents/ guardians/students, co-relation with various education & other govt. departments i.e. Public Health, Health, Social Welfare, Water Resources, P.W.D., Public Information and relation, culture etc.

NCTE recognized D.El.Ed. Course ( 2 Years) are running in this institution to till now.
